Studio / Venezia, since 2002
An island
within an
island.
Chiarastella Cattana is a textile designer who founded her space in Venice in 2002, combining contemporary sensibility with traditional Italian craftsmanship.
After a long career developing yarns and artefacts for fashion in Milan, she moved to Venice to concentrate on her own projects. Her curatorial approach means that everyone who enters her world — much like in a Renaissance workshop — can learn from her expertise.

01 / Practice
“In fabrics, she perceives not only colour and shape, but a weave of gestures and memory.”
The studio collaborates consistently with manufacturers across Italy’s finest districts, from south to north — small and medium enterprises that keep trades and knowledge alive. Conceived as a workshop where creation and commerce blend, the Venetian space glues people together through rituals: a shared cup of tea, the urban parade, mentoring, information passed face to face.
